Initially developed as a simple way for clinicians to view lab results, Sysmex’s clinical information system, Eclair, has evolved through the years and now offers so much more to healthcare providers including a diverse range of clinical data, Lab eOrders,Radiology eOrders, eGrowth Charts and Eclair Touch.The Eclair Clinical Forms module provides the tools to design and build intelligent and diverse forms which are used to electronically capture additional clinical data to a patient’s record. The forms can be used for a variety of clinical purposes and offer significant value to clinical decision making and workflow. For example, nutritional assessments with BMI calculators or risk calculators for CVD, or DVT/PE.Options available when capturing information via the clinical forms include the use of voice recordings, images and documents,previous test results, free form text, drop-down lists and numerical value entry. Further value can also be achieved by using algorithms or scripts applied to captured data to perform clinical calculations.

Eclair’s Clinical Forms replaces paper-based forms with electronic forms giving clinical teams access to the patient data theyneed when they need it in Eclair, streamlines workflow and allows for easier monitoring of various aspects of the patient’s care

Triaging

Eclair’s eOrders module manages the electronic referral and requesting of diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, radiology and cardiology procedures as well as transfusion medicine services. However, not all diagnostic information systems can receive HL7 messages or can triage these requests. Eclair’s Triaging module allows service providers to review modality-based requests they receive in Eclair and more efficiently assess, prioritise and book the requested procedures.

Patient cases are presented with full clinical information in a single list, allowing for more effective and accurate
assessment of each case. Transparency of the status for each patient referral is also available to test requestors ensuring seamless communication between teams.

Custom Lists

The Custom Lists module gives administrators a tool set to create queries on the rich data set held in Eclair and present the results of the query in a user-friendly grid-like list for easier viewing and accessibility by groups of Eclair users. Each available list can display as a module in the Eclair navigator menu and different workflows can be launched from the lists as required. Data can also be exported to a csv file for further analysis via third party systems.

Summary

A useful example of the type of query that could be helpful for Eclair administrators is the creation of a list identifying all uncollected orders for an individual location. The custom list functionality is also beneficial for clinicians needing certain clinical data for research purposes, such as all abnormal PSA results for patients within a specified age range.
